Adelaide River Batchelor

Staying at Batchelor and this week have photographed mostly birds and plants. The air is full of smoke from the fires burning, but out of all this devastation, the bird life explodes and the vegetation strikes out in the most irridescent greens.

Turkey bush in flower. These plants glow mauve in the burnt and dry landscape.

Cycads striking out with no rain and only ground water to draw on.

These little fungi thrust up in the early morning dew.
Rosella plants are an amazing bush tucker plant utilised by the local population. These plants are full of vitamin C and make wonderful chutneys, jams, fruit straps and a sweet icecream topping.
A rescued Tawny Frogmouth Owl. She had been turfed from her nest because she was born with only one eye and was hit by a car which broke her wing. the wing has mended and she is now learning to fly.
