I explored the MacDonnell ranges today, beginning with the iconic Simpsons Gap, followed by Standley Chasm and Ormiston Gorge, where Albert Namitjira painted his beautiful watercolours. Camped at Glen Helen, which had a lot of water around it in the Fincke River and consequently lots of waterbirds.

Chalkpits, which the local aboriginal people use to mark their bodies for ceremonies. A truly remarkable place, very beautiful and peaceful and two Port Lincoln Ringnecked parrots allowed us to watch them feeding their young which they were raising in a hollowed knot in a tree.
