I am giving the aboriginal names for these places because, the antiquity of the place precedes European discovery and it is so obvious here at Nitmiluk. The rock art is so old, it is not accessible even to the custodians of this place. Rock falls and erosion have left these paintings at least twenty metres up the cliff face. I did the river cruise and while the crocodiles were absent, I did see a white faced heron. The cruise was surreal, and as you sailed between the giant cliffs, it is a dreamtime place, soft and slow.
Jedda Rock.
Bats in the trees.
This dear little flower is everywhere, shyly showing you a soft pink head amongst the grey and the green.
